They stressed that the ongoing Israeli blockade is preventing the entry of food aid, fuel, and medical supplies, exacerbating an already catastrophic living situation.
The Norwegian Refugee Council, quoted by the Associated Press, stated that the region is witnessing an “artificial collapse of the civil system,” with food production becoming nearly impossible due to the destruction of agricultural infrastructure and repeated bombings targeting fishermen along Gaza’s coast. The Council added: “Israel has created a reality in which Palestinians cannot farm or fish.”
Gavin Kelleher, Director of Humanitarian Operations at the Council, said that aid organizations “no longer have tents to shelter the displaced,” and that “residents have run out of food supplies,” warning that thousands of people could die if the blockade continues.
