3 drones shot down near the US consulate in Erbil
A senior Iraqi Kurdish official said on Saturday that three drones had crashed in villages north of the city of Erbil, several kilometers from the US consulate in the Kurdistan region.
“This morning, a car rigged with explosives was shot down in Prague village in northern Erbil, and two planes were blown up in Komat Span,” Erbil governor Omed Khoshnaw told the official German news agency DPA. “The two villages are about three kilometers away from the new building of the US consulate in Erbil.”
“One of the planes hit the farms of Prague village and caused material damage to a citizen’s house without causing any human losses,” he said.
Security agencies in the Kurdish region are expected to issue a press release about the shooting down of the three drones in the next few hours.
