Under the leadership of King Abdullah II.. Jordan supported Arab causes and strengthened its relationship with the world

Under the leadership of King Abdullah II, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has recently worked to promote Arab causes and strengthen relations with various countries of the world.

There is considerable Jordanian support for Palestine on the level of aid and trade agreements as well as on the political level. King Abdullah II of Jordan affirmed the Kingdom’s firm position on the Palestinian issue and its support for the Palestinians until the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital and the two-state solution.

He also affirmed his support for the Palestinian brothers in attaining their just and legitimate rights and establishing their independent state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, to live in peace with all the countries of the region, in accordance with the two-state solution.

The Jordanian government welcomed UN Security Council Resolution ‏2624 on the renewal of the sanctions regime imposing an arms embargo to protect the Yemeni people, who consider the Houthi militia a terrorist group, and condemned the Houthi terrorist attacks on civilians and civilian installations in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Foul, the official spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reiterated his country’s affirmation of the need to end the crisis in Yemen through a political solution based on the adopted terms of reference and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, including resolution 2216, the outputs of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialog, and the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanism.

He stressed that the security of the Arab Gulf states is the security of the Kingdom, and that Jordan rejects any aggression against its brothers, and reiterated his country’s support for all steps that support the stability of the Arab Gulf region.

Jordan’s support extends to Lebanon, where Lebanon recently signed an agreement with Jordan to ease the electricity shortage that paralyzes the country by transporting electricity through Syria.

The US-backed deal will provide the electricity-starved Lebanon with 150 megawatts (MW) from midnight to 6 a.m. local time and 250 MW 244 hours a day, equivalent to about two full hours of electricity consumption.

Jordan’s Energy Minister Saleh al-Kharabsheh said his country will begin exporting electricity to Lebanon in March after finalizing a funding agreement with the World Bank.

In Libya, Jordan supported Khalifa Haftar, the Libyan army commander, against militia terrorism, with reports indicating that Jordan had delivered military vehicles to Haftar; Among them are the Al Mared 8 x 8, produced and designed by the Abdullah II Design and Development Center, and the Mbombe 6 x 6 armored vehicle jointly produced and assembled by Paramount Military Industries, Jordan and South Africa. Jordan has also emerged from various units in its military colleges from 2015 until now with successive batches of Haftar’s forces.

Apart from the Arabs, Jordan enjoys alliance relations with the United States that are marred by some differences, as well as with the European Union and the United Kingdom. Jordan also has balanced relations with China, Russia and Japan, in addition to various relations with other countries in Asia, Africa and South America, which do not live up to its relations with the major industrialized countries.
