The Yemeni army shoot down a Houthi drone in its stronghold

The Yemeni army announced on Saturday the shooting down of a number of aircraft belonging to the Houthi militia in their main stronghold in Saada Governorate, in the far north of the country.

The Yemeni army said in a statement that its forces in the 3rd Storm Brigade successfully intercepted drones fired by Houthi militias at their positions in Al Dhaher district, southwest of Saada, which is the main stronghold of the coup.

Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Ajabi, commander of the 3rd Brigade for Storm Brigade, said the unit observed Houthi drones flying over Yemeni army positions.

He confirmed that the Monitoring and Reconnaissance Unit sent an immediate notification to penetrate the drones, so that the air defense unit would target and shoot them down, considering that these are flagrant violations of the truce supported by the United Nations.

The Houthi militia intensified the use of drones recently as a humanitarian truce came into effect, with the Yemeni army and joint and southern forces dropping a number of booby-trapped drones on various fronts.

Since the truce came into effect on 2 April, Houthi militias have continued their military violations along the theater of operations in Marib, Hodeida, Taiz, Dhale, Hajjah, Saada, and al-Jawf.
