UAE: Symbol of peace, tolerance and coexistence
On 15 December 2018, HH President Sheikh Khalifa declared 2019 as the Year of Tolerance in the UAE. This declaration aims to highlight the State as a world capital of tolerance and affirm the value of tolerance as an extension of the approach of the founding Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan and a sustainable institutional work aimed at deepening the values of tolerance, dialog, acceptance of others and openness to different cultures.
The General Interlocutor for Tolerance is five:
To deepen the values of tolerance and openness to cultures and peoples in society by focusing on these values among the new generations.
The UAE has established itself as a global capital for tolerance through a number of major initiatives and projects, including research contributions. and specialized social studies in the dialog of civilizations.
Cultural tolerance through a variety of community and cultural initiatives.
Introduce legislation and policies aimed at promoting the values of cultural tolerance, religious, and social.
Promoting a discourse of tolerance and acceptance through targeted media initiatives.
Tolerance Bridge
To highlight the value of tolerance in the UAE, which is linked by bridges between more than 200 nationalities living in peace and love on the national territory, they affirmed that the UAE is an oasis of peace and security that upholds the values of tolerance and justice. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has directed the naming of the most beautiful footbridge in the Emirate of Dubai on the new water channel of the Bridge of Tolerance, in November 2017 in conjunction with the International Day for Tolerance, which falls on November 16 of each year.
Mariam Umm Eisa Mosque
With more than 200 nationalities living with dignity and respect, the laws of the state have ensured justice, respect and equality for all, it criminalize hatred and fanaticism and the causes of division and discord. It is considered a key partner in several international agreements and treaties that reject violence, extremism and discrimination, and has become a world capital where the civilizations of East and West meet to promote peace and rapprochement among all peoples.
The state has several churches and temples that allow individuals to practice their religious rites, and the state has several international initiatives that strengthen international peace and security and achieve a decent living for all. One practical example of the UAE’s spirit of tolerance is that HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has directed to name “Mariam Umm Eisa ” the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Mosque in the Al Moshrif area; that is in order to strengthen the human bonds between the followers of the religions, to which our faith has urged, and the commonalities between the divine religions.
Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence
In February 2016, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of Dubai, announced the 12th cabinet formation and substantial changes in the federal government and the appointment of a Minister of State for Tolerance for the first time in the country. We cannot allow hatred in our country, and we cannot accept any form of discrimination between anyone who lives in it or is a citizen in it, he said, pointing out that the culture of tolerance is not a product of today’s UAE society but rather an extension of a culture that has been prevalent in the region since ancient times.
The new cabinet supports the state’s position on instilling the values of tolerance, pluralism and acceptance of the other, ideologically, culturally, culturally and religiously. Accordingly, Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Khalid Al Qasimi has been appointed Minister of State for Tolerance, with the task of instilling tolerance as a fundamental value in society at the local and regional levels.
Following the cabinet formation in October 2017, HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan assumed the post to become a member of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Tolerance.
National Program for Tolerance
In June 2016, the Council of Ministers adopted the National Program for Tolerance with the aim of showing the true image of moderation and respect for others, and spreading the values of peace and coexistence.
