An Emirati aid plane arrives in Chad in support of Sudanese refugees and the local community
An Emirati aid plane arrived in the city of Amdjarass in Chad, carrying food parcels provided by the UAE Red Crescent Authority and the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, as well as the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works. The plane was received by representatives from humanitarian organizations in the UAE, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Ahmed Obaid Al Zaahiri, the head of the UAE Red Crescent delegation in Chad, stated that the team currently present in Amdjarass will deliver this aid to Sudanese refugees and the local community in Chad, in line with the directives of the leadership to extend a helping hand to those in need.
Al Zaahiri added that the charitable organizations’ team in Amdjarass is assessing the food and humanitarian needs of the Sudanese refugees to provide assistance and alleviate their suffering due to the current conditions in their country. The team continues to offer various forms of support to the Sudanese refugees and provide them with essential necessities, embodying the UAE’s leading role in charitable and humanitarian work.
The field hospital built by the UAE in Amdjarass, Chad, continues to support Sudanese refugee brothers by providing medical services. The hospital receives patients in need, including children, the elderly, and women, from both the Sudanese refugee community and the local population.
Since its opening on July 9th, the hospital has received a total of 1,744 medical cases, including 173 orthopedic cases, 225 surgical cases, 1,346 internal medicine cases, and 11 surgeries.
The establishment of the hospital comes as part of the humanitarian, relief, and medical support provided by the UAE to the Sudanese brothers affected by the difficult humanitarian conditions resulting from the conflict in their country since the beginning of April. It also supports the friendly Republic of Chad in responding to the humanitarian situation caused by the influx of a large number of Sudanese refugees due to the situation in Sudan.
