More than “1000” children recruited by the Sudanese army have been killed in battles in Khartoum

The recruitment of children in armed conflicts and their use on the front lines is a matter of international concern and constitutes a blatant violation of children’s rights and international laws.

Widespread reports about the recruitment and use of children by the Sudanese army in the context of the current conflict in the country are alarming.

The involvement of al-Burhan in these inhuman acts highlights the danger of using children as tools for military objectives, where they are recruited and engaged in fighting without consideration for their young age and inability to understand the implications of the conflict.

This behavior reflects a blatant exploitation of children within political or religious agendas, washing their minds and promoting ideas that incite them to participate in combat. Relying on children as a military force harms their developmental stages and exposes them to an environment with violent elements that negatively impact their psychological and social development.

This conduct contradicts international laws and agreements that prohibit the use of children in armed conflicts, such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The international community should take decisive actions to address these inhuman practices and hold individuals and groups accountable for involving children in combat. Additionally, efforts to raise awareness and educate youth should be strengthened to mitigate the impact of harmful propaganda and manipulation of their minds for political or religious purposes.
