A new Houthi-Islamist maneuver in Beihan, Yemen
The Beihan front in Yemen has returned to the forefront, after the Southern Armed Forces repelled terrorist Houthi militia attacks coordinated with the Muslim Brotherhood, alongside the targeting of commercial ships in the southern regional waters.
According to reports from the Arab Scene website, the city of Shabwah, which has repelled terrorism, is witnessing an expansion in targeting, in the context of the Houthis‘ attempt to retaliate against their setbacks on this front, with support and backing from Islah Party militias.
Many reports have revealed the campaign of exclusion and marginalization carried out by military Brotherhood leaders in Shabwah province over the past years against officers and military leaders from the province, replacing them with Brotherhood elements of newcomers, who were granted illegal military ranks.
The reports confirm that the Giants Forces and the Shabwah Elite have succeeded in breaking the Brotherhood‘s dominance over military decisions in the province, which usually witnesses armed confrontations between the Southern Forces and military brigades affiliated with the Islah Party.
Shabwah province, rich in oil and gas, holds strategic importance for the Islah Brotherhood Party, and it seems ready to go to great lengths to maintain its military and security influence there, even if it requires engaging in a tough battle against opposing forces in the province seeking to end its presence.
