The Brotherhood Intensifies Terrorism Against Yemenis… Threats to the Student “Who Hugged Her Father”

The Muslim Brotherhood continues to terrorize Yemenis, reaching the point of targeting a journalist and her husband for posting a picture together, as well as launching a fierce campaign against a student whose father celebrated her university graduation.

The story dates back to the decision of a Yemeni citizen to share in his own unique way his daughter’s university graduation ceremony. The father, who had returned from abroad without his daughter’s knowledge, surprised her by stepping onto the stage during the graduation event at a university in Taiz, Yemen, after years of absence, to express his pride and congratulate her. This emotional moment, after ten years of being away, was filmed and shared on social media, sparking reactions.

However, just hours after the video was posted, it ignited anger among hardline Brotherhood leaders, who claimed that the event promoted “moral decay,” as reported by the Yemeni site “Al-Omana.”

The attack on the girl and her father was led by the extremist Brotherhood leader Abdullah Ahmed Ali Al-Adini, who not only publicly incited hatred against the student and her father but also sought to criminalize them from the pulpits.

Followers of this extremist leader issued explicit threats against the girl’s father, accusing him of violating societal traditions and religious teachings, and urging further aggression.

The Brotherhood’s incitement campaigns involved insults, offensive language, and vulgar terms, as well as direct calls against female university students, women working in civil society, and anyone who shared the video, in flagrant violation of human rights and freedom of expression.

These incitements are part of ongoing campaigns targeting cultural activities, graduation ceremonies, and national celebrations, with a sectarian and terrorist approach.

In contrast, activists, human rights defenders, and journalists condemned the Brotherhood’s incitement campaigns against the young woman and her father, deeming it a violation of rights, freedoms, and privacy.

In recent days, the same group also launched incitement campaigns against Yemeni journalist Hiba Al-Tabi and her husband, writer Salah Al-Wassi, after the latter posted a picture with his wife on his Facebook page.

The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate condemned the attacks on Al-Tabi and her husband, calling for their protection after they received death threats for posting their picture on social media.

The Taiz branch of the Journalists Syndicate stated in a statement, that it had received a report from Al-Tabi, stating that she and her husband had been targeted by a widespread defamation and incitement campaign, which reached the point of death threats, following the publication of their photo on Facebook.
