The Muslim Brotherhood Exploited Youth as Fuel for Their Political Battles: What Did They Do?

Tarek Al-Beshbishi, a former Muslim Brotherhood leader who defected from the group, revealed that the Brotherhood does not believe in the concept of a national state. Instead, they view it as a temporary tool to achieve their ultimate goal: seizing power in the name of religion.

He highlighted that the group has committed numerous transgressions over the decades, including sowing discord within societies, inciting violence, and exploiting young people as fuel for their political battles.

In a statement to the Egyptian newspaper Al-Watan, Al-Beshbishi stated that the terrorist group consistently portrays itself as the bearer of an Islamic project. However, in reality, they act against Islamic values that promote unity and justice. Upon closer examination of their actions, it becomes evident that they use religion as a cover to mask their true objectives, which have no connection to genuine principles.

He also pointed out that one of the most significant historical episodes exposing the Brotherhood’s transgressions is their involvement in terrorism. The Brotherhood has been directly or indirectly linked to numerous terrorist attacks targeting both civilians and military personnel in a desperate attempt to destabilize states, all while exploiting religion.

Al-Beshbishi added that the Brotherhood uses religious rhetoric as a tool for political blackmail and manipulation of the sentiments of ordinary people, which has tarnished the compassionate values of Islam. Furthermore, they have systematically sought to infiltrate state institutions to impose their agenda, weakening state cohesion and undermining the rule of law.

He also mentioned that he was shocked when he saw the Brotherhood exploiting religion to achieve political gains by forming alliances with parties like Al-Amal and Al-Wafd, despite ideological differences.

His doubts deepened in 2007 when the group presented a political program calling for the establishment of an “Islamic caliphate” and the imposition of a theocratic regime on society.

After the events of January, as the Brotherhood shifted toward complete control of power, Al-Beshbishi realized that belonging to the group was incompatible with national identity. He ultimately left the group for good, as he stated to the Al-Arabiya channel.

Al-Beshbishi further emphasized that the Brotherhood’s strategy of spreading lies is not a new development but part of an old tactic they have been employing for a long time. They use rumors to tarnish the image of political regimes and exploit social and economic crises to steer public opinion against governments.

He noted that the Brotherhood employs these methods during specific contexts, such as times of political tensions or internal unrest, enabling them to mobilize the streets and deepen social divisions.

Finally, Al-Beshbishi called for awareness of the Brotherhood’s schemes and their methods of spreading chaos. He stressed the importance of countering these disinformation campaigns by fostering a culture of critical analysis of information and equipping societies to confront manipulation attempts.
