New International Award for Mohammed Ben Zayed.. The leader of the road to peace
The Washington Institute for Near East Policy announced it will present the Scholar of State award to Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane, crown prince of Abou Dabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces.
The announcement by The Washington Institute that Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane will be chosen for the award coincides with the first anniversary of the signing of the U.A.E.-Israel Peace Agreement (the Abraham Agreement).
The Institute said in a statement that the crown prince of Abou Dabi led the process of securing the peace agreement between the UAE and Israel, as well as his commitment to expanding religious tolerance in his country.
The Institute will honor Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane at the Statesman Award ceremony in New York City on November 18th.
The Washington Institute for Near East Policy has described Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane as a bold « visionary figure », paving the way for peace between the United Arab Emirates and Israel and paving the way for three other Arab countries (Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan) to fully conclude their own agreements.
The Institute’s Executive Director, Robert Satloff, said that the leadership of the Crown Prince of Abou Dabi made peace agreements between Israel and Arab countries possible and raised the level of full and warm peace between Arabs and Israelis.
“Moreover, it opened the UAE’s doors to all Abrahamic religions, and there is no greater evidence than the country’s churches, synagogues, and religious institutions.”
The Institute’s Science Researcher Award celebrates eminent leaders who, through their public services and professional achievements, embody the idea that a knowledge of history is essential for a wise and effective policy and the promotion of peace and security in the Middle East.
Previous winners include Jordan’s King Abdullah II, former Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, former US President Bill Clinton and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Henry Kissinger and George Shultz also won the prize. and former U.S. defense secretary Leon Panetta.
