A French magazine publishes a series of reports about the Iranian Revolutionary Guard… What do they contain?
The French weekly news magazine, Marianne, published a series of reports on the story of the establishment of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), its current role, both domestically and internationally, and the future that awaits it.
In the first episode of its reports, the magazine said that if the mullahs’ regime, which was rocked by the strong demonstrations, has not fallen since the death of the young Mahsa Amini about 6 months ago, it owes it to those men who joined the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (Pasdaran), which established its first corps Khomeini in France prior to the overthrow of the Shah in 1979, and today its network extends throughout Iranian society, according to 24:ae translation.
Marianne described what she referred to as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Sepah-e-Pasdaran militia as an ideological army and a state-within-a-state model beyond belief. While the Pasdaran are flattered by some compelled Iranians and are hated by the majority of the population, they themselves fear everyone and therefore suppress any dissenting voices within Iranian society.
Regionally and internationally, members of the IRGC support certain regimes, assist and finance the Lebanese Hezbollah in its wars by arming it, and fuel the corruption of the Venezuelan regime and others. “They are a major economic, political and social force, with their vast network stretching from the construction industry to the financial and banking sectors, including the food, petrochemical and telecommunications industries.” The personal political and economic interests and spheres of influence of Iranian government and military officials are often closely intertwined with them.
Iranians are no longer as afraid as they once were, and it is clear today that Iranian women are leading the revolution in their country. Interestingly, the most misogynistic system in the world will be toppled under the leadership and thanks of women. This comes as a corrupt regime, weakened by international sanctions and religious tightening, refuses to make any changes in the structure and affiliation of the Revolutionary Guard, whose authority is weakened.
The second episode, which Marian published in its latest issue, was titled “The Iranian Revolutionary Guard: From War to Economic Control” and featured Khomeini’s statement that “War is a Gift from Heaven”, which was not wrong according to the magazine. Wars created Iranian patriotism, which is blended with the worship of martyrdom overemphasized by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps has conducted a campaign to “cleanse” the country, assassinate thousands of opponents of the Islamist regime, suppress freedoms and strip away people’s rights, all the way to controlling the country’s economic potential.
The newspaper La Croix, quoting its sources, revealed an unprecedented lack of trust in the ranks of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, the low morale and growing desire of its members to defect and depart, in addition to conflicts between senior officers and senior military ranks. The newspaper also discussed the relationship between the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran, which includes numerous military units.
The French daily also reported that a report issued a few days ago following a meeting between the Supreme Leader of the Iranian Revolution and leaders of the Revolutionary Guards gives an overview of the marked attrition within the regime’s ideological army, after months of unprecedented protests of Iranians, which foretells a major military and political rift that the Pasdaran may witness in the future.
