A grand celebration was held in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of the Throne Day
The event marked the 24th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne of his ancestors. The celebration was attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Rashid Al Kaabi, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Military and Security Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, along with several Arab and foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Abu Dhabi, as well as civilian and military figures, and representatives from the fields of culture and media. The festivities were filled with joy and delight to honor this important occasion.
Abdellah Oudadess, acting as the representative of the Moroccan embassy in Abu Dhabi, delivered a speech during the celebration that began with the national anthems of both Morocco and the UAE. He emphasized that the Kingdom of Morocco commemorates the 24th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s reign with a strong belief in hard work and dedication to achieve numerous domestic and international accomplishments.
He highlighted that King Mohammed VI’s royal address this year included praise for the positive contribution of the Moroccan national football team in the World Cup held in Qatar, which brought joy to the hearts of Arabs and Africans and lifted their spirits high. Additionally, the King expressed Morocco’s joint bid with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup, a unique nomination that unites two continents and civilizations across the Mediterranean shores.
Oudadess also mentioned that the King commended Moroccan creativity in various fields, especially the automotive industry, emphasizing the concept of seriousness in all essential domains.
On another note, he affirmed that Moroccan-Emirati relations have witnessed positive developments in political, economic, and social aspects. Politically, the Kingdom of Morocco proudly records the unwavering support of the United Arab Emirates in the quest for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
Economically, non-oil trade between the two countries saw a relative increase of 19%, rising from 850 million dollars in 2019 to approximately one billion dollars by the end of 2022. The UAE stands as the largest investor in Morocco and ranks third globally, with investments amounting to 20 billion dollars, representing 21% of foreign direct investment in sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, telecommunications, and renewable energy.
Furthermore, he emphasized Morocco’s commitment to supporting the UAE during its hosting of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), underscoring the strength and durability of the fraternal relations built upon the foundation set by King Hassan II and Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and continued by King Mohammed VI and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
