A new round of nighttime drone warfare: Russia shoots down 75 Ukrainian aircraft

Russia announced that it had repelled Ukrainian attacks involving 75 drones.

In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defence said: “Air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 75 Ukrainian drones last night: 36 over the Black Sea, 10 over the Republic of Crimea, 9 over Bryansk Region, 7 over Voronezh Region, 4 over Krasnodar Region, 3 over Smolensk Region, 2 over both Moscow and Belgorod Regions, one drone over Kaluga Region, and another over Ryazan Region.”

The Ukrainian armed forces target Russian regions almost daily using drones and missiles.

The governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov, stated that Ukraine struck a major heating and power station on Sunday using drones, causing a fire and forcing authorities to activate backup electricity and heating systems.

He added that Ukrainian drones attacked the Shatura power plant, located about 120 kilometers east of the Kremlin.

“Air defense forces destroyed some of the drones, while others fell onto the facility’s grounds. A fire broke out at the site and has now been contained,” he said.

These military developments come as the United States intensifies efforts to reach a consensus on its proposal to end the war in Ukraine, ongoing since February 2022.
