How do Marib’s oil revenues and Taiz’s levies become fuel for a parallel state linked to the Muslim Brotherhood?
This stance followed a meeting held between the governorate’s leadership and representatives of the World Food Programme, which the committee described as an overt attempt by the party-controlled authority to justify its position before public opinion and to portray itself as powerless to influence the decisions of international organizations. This comes amid growing complaints from citizens over the exclusion of entire districts and the removal of thousands of eligible families from beneficiary lists.
In a statement published by Al-Montasaf Net, the committee noted that the meeting, which addressed the issue of reinstating excluded districts—particularly the deliberate removal of eligible names in the Al-Mudhaffar district—failed to produce any concrete solutions. It stressed that the Al-Islah party–run authority is the sole entity legally authorized and responsible for securing citizens’ basic needs and ensuring that aid reaches beneficiaries without exclusion or discrimination.

The committee further accused the local authority of deliberate negligence in handling this sensitive issue and of failing to take serious measures to correct targeting data, a failure that has exacerbated the suffering of those affected.
For months, the city of Taiz has witnessed widespread public discontent due to the absence of clear standards in aid distribution, amid accusations that the Brotherhood-affiliated authority is either using humanitarian assistance as a political tool or neglecting it because of the party’s internal preoccupations. This has resulted in the most vulnerable groups being deprived of basic means of survival, without any fair alternatives to alleviate the severe living crisis gripping the governorate.
