Afghanistan becomes battleground between Taliban and ISIS

Afghanistan has become a battleground between terrorist organizations, after the mutual elimination process between the Taliban terrorist group that controls Kabul and the terrorist organization ISIS-Khorasan increased.

In the latest Taliban operation against ISIS, around eight people were killed and seven arrested following raids on ISIS strongholds in Afghanistan.

“These members played a key role in the attack on the hotel (frequented) by Chinese and paved the way for foreign ISIS members in Khorasan to come to Afghanistan,” Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid wrote on Twitter.

ISIS rains Taliban terror attacks

There have been several terrorist attacks in Afghanistan in the past few months, some of which were claimed by ISIS.

ISIS-Khorasan has stepped up its operations since the Taliban took power in August 2021, especially as the Taliban rejected the group’s strategy of carrying out attacks against foreign interests inside Afghanistan and using its territory as a base to launch attacks on neighboring countries.

ISIS expands influence in Afghanistan

Foreign reports have revealed that ISIS has been expanding its influence among university students in Kabul, Nangarhar and some other provinces in Afghanistan in recent months, exploiting the fluid security situation in the country and succeeding in fundraising and recruiting followers, thus heralding a major focus for the organization in the heart of Asia, according to the BBC.
