After the fall of Kabul… Trump calls for Biden to resign
Former US president Donald Trump has called on President Joe Biden to resign over the situation in Afghanistan.
Trump said in a statement: “The time has come for Joe Biden to resign.. That’s a shame.. How did he allow this to happen in Afghanistan?”.
He added: “That comes alongside the dramatic rise in coronavirus infections, the border disaster, the destruction of energy independence, and a broken economy.”
On Sunday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the capital Kabul as Taliban gunmen entered the capital.
Pictures broadcast by news agencies showed Taliban gunmen in Ghani’s office, after the group claimed control of the presidential palace.
The Taliban took over security patrols to maintain security in the capital, which they captured on Sunday with little fighting.
Since the US announced its withdrawal, the movement has launched a massive attack across the country, and it seemed at the time that its control of power was only a matter of time.
Two days ago, US estimates suggested that the Taliban needed 3 months to take over the capital, but the movement has wrongly shown those estimates.
