Al-Alimi comments on the UAE’s positions towards Yemen… This is what he said
Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Command Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Yemen and the United Arab Emirates. He praised Abu Dhabi’s honorable position alongside the Yemeni people, its political leadership, and its aspirations to restore state institutions and put an end to the coup of the Houthi terrorist militias supported by the Iranian regime.
During a meeting yesterday with UAE Ambassador Mohammed Hamad al-Zaabi, al-Alimi appreciated the UAE’s recent donor conference pledges and praised its funding institutions and charitable organizations for supporting the Yemeni economy, rehabilitating services and alleviating human suffering in liberated provinces, Saba Net reported.
The UAE announced at a donor conference held last Monday in Geneva, hosted by Sweden and the Swiss Confederation in co-operation with the UN, that it will provide $325 million to support recovery and rehabilitation projects in Yemen in 2023. The UAE has provided $6.6 billion since 2015 to Yemen, which has been witnessing an armed conflict for nine years.
UAE Minister of State Noura Al Kaabi, who participated in the donor conference, said 2023 must be the year in which peace is achieved in Yemen, and that international efforts must be supported to put an end to the conflict, meet the legitimate aspirations of the Yemeni people, and achieve peace and stability in Yemen and the region.
She also affirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni people, noting that since 2015 the UAE has provided a total of $6.6 billion in aid to Yemen and a $300 million deposit to support its national currency.
