Al-Burhan: Agreement on Renaissance Dam possible
Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan said, Saturday, that “reaching an agreement with Ethiopia on the Renaissance Dam is possible.”
“It is possible to reach an agreement on the technical issues of the Renaissance dam,” al-Burhan said in remarks on the sidelines of his talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Al-Burhan is on an official visit to Ethiopia, during which he will participate in the “Tana Forum on Peace and Security Issues in Africa” in the Ethiopian city of Bahir Dar.
The Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council said that Khartoum and Addis Ababa agreed on the need to address all border problems by peaceful means, noting that the outstanding issues between the two sides can be resolved through dialog.
Al-Burhan stressed the keenness of the Sudan to maintain close relations with Ethiopia, praising the proposal of economic integration between the two countries.
Regarding the Renaissance dam project, the Ethiopian Prime Minister said that the Renaissance Dam project “will bring great benefits to both sides and will provide many positive results for the Sudan.”
During the two-day Tana Forum on Peace and Security in Africa, participants will discuss many topics related to issues of peace, security and development in Africa, as well as panel discussions on the state of peace and security in Africa and culture as a sustainable engine for peace and development.
On the Forum, the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council said that the holding of the Tana Forum on Peace and Security in Africa represents a new approach in addressing the issues of the continent.
Such an approach served as a motto for African solutions to African problems.
