Al-Qaeda releases video attributed to Ayman al-Zawahiri
The al-Qaeda terrorist organization released a 35-minute video of its late leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
In August, the US announced that al-Zawahiri had been killed in a US drone attack in the Afghan capital of Kabul.
The SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks terrorist organizations’ postings, said al-Qaeda released the video of al-Zawahiri on Friday.
The recording is undated and the text does not clearly indicate a clear time frame, according to Reuters.
U.S. officials had said the United States killed al-Zawahiri with a drone missile while he stood on the balcony of a house where he was hiding in late July in the organization’s biggest blow since U.S. Navy Special Forces killed Osama bin Laden more than a decade ago.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said Thursday that “the movement has not found the body of Ayman al-Zawahiri, leader of al-Qaeda, and investigations are continuing”.
