Between hosting and evacuating, the humanitarian hand of the UAE continues to operate with efficiency in Afghanistan


“From the very moment the Afghan government fell, the UAE became a midwife to evacuations of foreigners, and to Afghan citizens, in pure humanitarian action.”

The United Arab Emirates extended its hand to help everyone without any discrimination, affirming its support for the efforts of the international community to achieve security and stability in Afghanistan and its open stance with the Afghan people.

“In mid-September, when the Afghan government fell and the Taliban took control, the UAE was quick to offer assistance in facilitating the evacuation of foreign nationals from Afghanistan, which it immediately began without delay.”

“Over the past days, it has continued to evacuate thousands of foreign diplomats, Afghan nationals who worked with them and those who wanted to leave the country for the difficult conditions in Kabul after it fell to the Taliban.”

Aug. 15 – Evacuation Bridge from Kabul to UAE

An airlift was inaugurated from Kabul to the airports of the United Arab Emirates, opening its arms to many planes from all over the world, to evacuate foreigners and Afghans, through Hamid Karzai’s airport; It was overrun within days by crowds wanting to flee the country.

The UAE has become a focal point in the evacuation effort from Afghanistan, part of its humanitarian efforts to facilitate access for all parties in these circumstances, receiving hundreds of diplomats, staff of various nationalities and NGOs aboard evacuation flights.

Between hosting and evacuating, the humanitarian hand of the UAE continues to operate with efficiency witnessed by all after it facilitated the evacuation of 8,500 foreigners from Afghanistan using its planes and through its airports.

In total, the UAE facilitated the evacuation of 39,827 foreigners and Afghans from Afghanistan using its aircraft and airports, while granting 215 landing permits to diplomatic agencies to use its airports for evacuations from Kabul.

The UAE’s white hands extended to the relief of all nationalities who have gone through difficult circumstances under the constant principle of “man first” without discrimination and as a contribution to the humanitarian efforts in the current Afghan crisis.

On the same firm principle, the United Arab Emirates received former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his family on its territory for humanitarian reasons, after he left the country, following the Taliban’s takeover.

August 20: Hosting Afghans

In this humanitarian context, the UAE has announced its agreement to host 5,000 Afghan citizens; evacuees from Afghanistan, before going to other countries.

August 26.. The Afghan families arrived in the Emirates

The UAE has begun hosting Afghan families of women and children, as well as taking all necessary measures to provide them with the necessary care and support in the community on a temporary basis; within the framework of its humanitarian initiative.

This is part of the global humanitarian initiatives of the United Arab Emirates, which provide Afghan refugees with the means to lead a dignified life and achieve the noble goals of the United Arab Emirates in a tolerant and united society.

By Monday, the UAE had contributed to the evacuation of more than 40,000 foreigners from Afghanistan, and the temporary hospitality of about 8,500 Afghans in the city of Humanitarian Emirates became the title of the UAE’s effort to help the world.
