Despite the occupation crimes.. 90 thousand Palestinians commemorate al-Qadr night in Al-Aqsa Mosque
Tens of thousands of worshippers celebrated Al-Qadr night, yesterday, in Al-Aqsa Mosque and its squares, despite the outbreak of violent clashes between the occupation forces, worshipers and the revelers, which resulted in tens of injuries among Palestinians, in addition to arrests.
The Department of Islamic Endowments said that the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s prayer places and its squares were full of worshippers from the city of Jerusalem and the occupied territories in 48, and a few from the West Bank, due to the occupation restrictions that prevented their arrival, noting that the number of worshippers in Al-Qadr Night reached 90 thousand.
Two years ago, a quarter of a million people prayed this night, but a coronavirus ban and a recent crackdown by the occupation forces have reduced the number of people praying.
People began arriving at al-Aqsa after evening prayers. People were fasting and eating iftar in the squares, and the number increased before evening prayers and taraweeh prayers.
The occupation authorities attempted to prevent the Palestinian people from reaching Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa by arresting and detaining the buses at the village of Abu Ghosh, several kilometers away from the city. However, the residents insisted on arriving to commemorate Al-Qadr in the mosque, so they walked on their feet before the people of the city went to transport them in their own vehicles, in spite of the harassment the occupation imposed on them.
Worshippers attended evening prayers, relays and midnight prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque. The Islamic Endowments Department, in co-operation with scouts and the regime, took all necessary measures to provide for visitors to al-Aqsa.
Occupation soldiers also threw gas and sound bombs at worshippers in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said its staff had treated more than 90 people injured during clashes around Jerusalem, 30 of which were taken to hospital, and the PRCS field hospital had treated 14.
“According to the Red Crescent, the injured included 6 children, including a one-year-old girl, as well as a paramedic, who was on duty at the scene.”
The Red Crescentsaid most of the casualties were rubber bullets, sound bombs and direct hit.
Occupation soldiers also targeted a woman in the face, resulting in broken nose and some teeth.
At midnight, the occupying forces pursued Palestinian youths who had gathered in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, rejecting the decision of the occupying Power to expel them from their homes on behalf of the settlers. They also stormed a house in the neighborhood where some young men had taken refuge during hit-and-run operations.
The settlers, who were in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood under the protection of the Israeli police, severely beat a resident of the neighborhood.
According to PRC sources, an injury was transferred from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood to the hospital as a result of the settlers attack on two of the neighborhood’s residents and solidarity activists there.
Since the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the city of Al-Quds has been the scene of attacks by the Israeli occupation forces in addition to settlers, especially in the area of Bab Al-Amoud and the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
“On Friday evening, Israeli attacks on worshippers at Al-Aqsa mosque left 205 people injured by rubber bullets, the Palestinian Red Crescent said.”
