Efforts of Yemen’s Financial Institutions and Charities in Supporting the Economy… Praise for Emirati Aid
Support has not stopped in the past years since the Houthi militia seized Sana’a. As the humanitarian situation deteriorates further, the UAE’s efforts to establish humanitarian projects to support victims of Iran-backed militia crimes are increasing.
A Year of Peace in Yemen
UAE Minister of State Noura al-Kaabi, who participated in the donors’ conference, said the UAE hopes this year will be a year of peace in Yemen. She stressed the need to intensify international efforts to put an end to conflicts and meet the legitimate aspirations of the Yemeni people, especially stability and improved economic conditions.
The UAE has been committed from the beginning to supporting our brothers in Yemen, with a total of US$6.6 billion in aid provided to Yemen, in addition to multilateral peace and development efforts in Yemen, noting that the UAE will this year increase its support for recovery and rehabilitation projects by $325 million, targeting the health care, renewable energy and agriculture sectors, including a major dam construction project.
Command Council Praise
Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Command Council, praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Yemen and the UAE, stressing that the positions of the UAE’s political leadership are honorable and that they have not hesitated to provide support to the Yemeni people and help them restore the state and put an end to the Houthi terrorist militia coup.
During a meeting with UAE Ambassador Mohammed Hamad al-Zaabi appreciated the UAE’s recent donor conference pledges and praised its funding institutions and charitable organizations for their efforts to support the Yemeni economy, rehabilitate services and alleviate human suffering in liberated provinces, Yemen’s Saba News reported.
Relieving suffering
Yemeni political analyst Mohammed Jumaih said UAE aid is helping support the Yemeni economy and restore the value of the currency that was wasted when Houthi terrorist forces occupied Sanaa. He said the UAE aid promotes economic reforms and rebuilding institutions, contributes to raising revenues, reduces unemployment and poverty rates, and raises the standard of living for Yemenis suffering because of the war.
He said the Presidential Command Council needs the support of its brothers, especially as Yemen needs more than one area to lead the political, military and economic transition towards peace and stability, especially in light of the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against oil ports and energy sources, and their rejection of the UN truce.
“The UAE is one of those countries that are committed to supporting the peaceful resolution of international and regional conflicts and focus on supporting international efforts to maintain security and stability in the world”, Jumaih said in his statement. This policy was embodied in the UAE’s great support for peace and efforts in Yemen and the fight against the Houthi militia.
