Egyptian top envoy appealed for ceasing foreign interference in Libya


On Wednesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, appealed for stopping the foreign intervention in Libya and showed support for a political solution.

As comments in the context of the 155th session of the Arab League Council, Shoukry stated that Egypt makes more efforts to reach a peace settlement in Libya. About the Syrian crisis, he indicated that the country has been in a vicious circle for 10 years.

Shoukry also indicated that the Syrian people have been suffering, without hope for a better near-future, noting that the return of Syria as an effective and stable country is vital to keep Arab national security.

About Palestine, Shoukry asserted Egypt’s interest to keep the Palestinian issue on the international agenda, affirming that the Palestinian cause had been exposed to a deep crisis during the preceding period.

Moreover, Shoukry denounced the Houthi assaults against Saudi Arabia and showed support to Saudi leadership, he said: We fully support Saudi Arabia’s efforts in defending themselves from the Houthi militia.

Otherwise, Shoukry applauded the Arab role in backing Egypt and Sudan’s position about the Renaissance Dam, he also said: We did not wish to detract any party’s right. We are seeking to reach an agreement that guarantees our legitimate rights and does not detract from Ethiopia’s right to development and the rights of Egypt and Sudan in the waters of the Nile.
