Erdogan after returning from Saudi Arabia: We’re at the stage of making friends


In his first comments after returning from Saudi Arabia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country is witnessing a phase of winning friends, not creating enemies.

The Turkish president said: “We must enter a new phase with countries with which we share the same beliefs and ideas”.

He added: “We have agreed with Saudi Arabia to reactivate the considerable economic potential between the two countries through events that bring together our investors”, he said.

He continued: “We support the organization of International Expo 2030 in Saudi Arabia”.

On Thursday evening, Erdogan arrived in the Saudi city of Jeddah for the first visit to the kingdom since 2017.

Saudi monarch King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan enjoyed his historic two-day visit to Saudi Arabia which began on Thursday.

On Twitter, Erdogan said: “As two brotherly with historical, cultural and human relations, we are making unremitting efforts to strengthen all types of political, military and economic relations and to usher in a new era between us”.
