Erdogan regime committing new crime in the Turkish public sector – details

In a new episode of the regime’s crackdown on Turks who do not enjoy the same partisan cover, there have been unofficial reports that the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government has fired around 6,000 employees, mostly from the Public Security Directorate (PSD), under Temporary Article 15 of Decree No. 375.

Turkish newspaper Zaman quoted Ali Osman Jochar, a lawyer, as saying in a tweet on his official Twitter account: “On July 30, 6,000 people were dismissed from various institutions, including 4,000 from the Public Security Directorate, under the temporary article 15 of Decree No. 375.”

Jochar added that the expiration of the temporary article 15 of Decree No. 375 on July 31st, resulted in increasing “injustice” in the dismissal decisions, noting that the majority of those affected by the dismissal campaign had already been acquitted or not prosecuted.

It is important to highlight this inequity in the return to work cases that will be filed by affected people within the next 60 days, he said. “The incident is very painful, but I think the administrative court will annul these illegal decisions as soon as the lawsuits are filed.”

“Following an alleged coup attempt in 2016, Turkey has seen many people sentenced to jail terms and arbitrarily dismissed, turning prisons into exile for anyone with a different opinion, the Turkish newspaper said.”

In April 2012, the Turkish newspaper Dovar revealed that 176,662 people had been dismissed from their jobs in Turkey in 2020, under the Social Security Institution Law 29, which provides that it allows the dismissal of an employee for “violating the code of ethics and good faith”.
