Facilities and uranium: The Atomic Agency adopts a resolution demanding Iran’s full and immediate cooperation
The International Atomic Energy Agency has adopted a resolution calling on Iran to cooperate “fully and without delay” regarding its stockpile of enriched uranium and the nuclear sites that were targeted in recent attacks.
According to Reuters, diplomats reported that the 35-member Board of Governors of the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency passed the resolution during a closed meeting held on Thursday.
The primary purpose of the resolution is to renew and amend the Agency’s mandate to report on various aspects of Iran’s nuclear program. It also states that Iran must quickly provide the information requested by the Agency and grant it the necessary access, five months after the attacks carried out by Israel and the United States.
According to the same sources, nineteen member states of the Board of Governors voted in favor of the resolution submitted by the United States and the European Troika, three voted against it, and twelve abstained.
