Former Tunisian Ennahdha minister banned from travel
Tunisian security forces prevented the Muslim Brotherhood MP and former Minister of Employment Sayida Ounissi from traveling with her daughter.
Today, Friday, former MP Sayida Ounissi, the minister of employment in the dissolved Muslim Brotherhood government, was in the hands of the Tunisian security authorities in implementation of the travel ban.
At the end of last month, the investigation authorities issued a case in which the members of the dissolved parliament held a remote session in violation of the decision of freezing the work of the council, which was issued by Tunisian President Kais Saied on July 25, 2021.
On March 30th, a parliamentary session was held in violation of the presidential decree. In response, Saied announced the dissolution of parliament and accused the dominant Muslim Brotherhood organization of trying to sow discord in the country.
On 25 July 2021, Saied decided to dismiss the government of Hichem Mechichi, freeze the work of the parliament and lift the immunity of his deputies.
Sayida Ounissi was born in 1987 and is the daughter of a Tunisian Muslim Brotherhood leader who fled from the Tunisian judiciary to France in 1992.
In 2014, it won the Tunisian legislative elections. In 2018, it assumed the post of Minister of Employment under the Government of Youssef Chahed. She resigned from this position on November 8, 2019, after winning a seat and re-election to the Assembly of the Representatives of the People’s Assembly from the French constituency representing the Ennahdha party.
