Four members of the same family drowned in a well south of Ta’izz

“Four members of the same family, including three girls, drowned in a well in southern Yemen’s Ta’izz province.”

A local source said that three girls drowned in a manual well in the Bani Shaiba area, Ash-Shamayatayn district, next to a young man who tried to rescue them.

The source added that the rescue efforts made to retrieve the bodies faced difficulties due to the lack of facilities in the rural area south of Ta’izz province.

The tragic accident shocked and saddened the residents of the area, who were surprised to see all of this number fall at once in the well.

The girls, Farah Al-Haddad, Amina Adam Al-Haddad, and Maria Ahmed Al-Haddad, were trying to obtain drinking water from the well. Haitham Adel Al-Haddad tried to save them, but he faced the same fate.

Water barriers and groundwater wells are full during the rainy season, and pools of water left behind by the floods are formed in a number of Yemeni towns and regions.

“Last August, three children drowned in a pool of water left behind by torrential rains in the Hays district of Al Hudaydah governorate.”
