French diplomatic source: Pro-Turkish Syrian militia in Libya is starting to remove

On Thursday, a French diplomatic source stated that Pro-Ankara Syrian militias deployed in Libya have started to withdraw, describing the step as encouraging.

The source, who wants to be not named, said: This is one of the encouraging gestures that we have seen. There are movements (of the Syrian militia forces) that have been seen and noted.

In fact, the Syrian militia forces’ presence in Libya with Turkish troops has frequently annoyed France that has called for the departure of all mercenaries from the country including Russians.

On Thursday, Libya’s new unity government appealed for the immediate removal of all foreign mercenaries from the war-ravaged country with elections are set holding by year’s end.

It should indicated that the North African country entered on the chaos after that the dictator Moammar Gadhafi was toppled and murdered in a 2011 NATO-backed rebellion, which led to multiple forces competing for the power.

Combat stopped in halt last summer, and a formal ceasefire in October was followed by the establishment last week of a new unity government led by interim Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.

The presence of an estimated 20,000 foreign fighters and mercenaries on Libya’s territory is considered as a threat to the UN-backed transition leading to December 24 elections.

Libyan Foreign Minister Najla al-Mangoush stated at a Tripoli news conference joined by her French, German and Italian counterparts. We reiterate the need for the departure of all mercenaries from Libya, and immediately. French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian reaffirmed her call, informing the news conference: The departure of the mercenaries is essential for the Libyan state to assert its sovereignty.

Otherwise, the three European diplomats were in Tripoli to show support for the newly formed Government of National Unity, or GNU.
