He wants action… Trump tired of meetings about Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump is “tired” of holding meetings about Ukraine that lead to no results, and “wants no more talk, but concrete action to end the war.”
On Thursday, the White House spokesperson said that “the president is extremely frustrated with both warring sides, and he is fed up with meetings whose sole purpose is simply to meet.” She added: “He no longer wants words; he wants action. He wants this war to end.”
She explained that “his envoy, Steve Whitcov, and his team are continuing discussions with both sides as we speak.”
On Wednesday, Trump had announced that European leaders wished to hold a meeting on Ukraine at the end of the week, without confirming any U.S. participation.
Levitt stated: “If there is a real opportunity to sign a peace agreement, and if we believe that these meetings are worth someone from the United States dedicating time to them this weekend, then we will send a representative from Washington.”
“Not confident”
She concluded: “We remain unconvinced that a genuine peace is achievable, or that we can truly push things forward.”
Meanwhile, Kyiv announced on Wednesday that it had submitted to the United States its revised version of the U.S. plan aimed at ending the war with Russia.
Alongside diplomatic efforts, Russia continues to advance on the ground. On Thursday, it announced that it had seized control of the city of Seversk in eastern Ukraine, one of the last pockets of resistance on this front, whose fall would bring Russian forces closer to the major cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk — a claim denied by Kyiv.
Seversk lies about 30 kilometers east of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, the last major cities still under Ukrainian control in Donbas, the industrial and mining region that Russian forces seek to capture.
