Hide files that prove the terrorism of the Muslim Brotherhood… Arrest of a Tunisian judge and transfer him for investigation

The Tunisian Judicial Council suspended on Tuesday Judge Bashir al-Akrami from his post and referred him for investigation for his involvement in concealing Brotherhood terrorism files.

The Judicial Council in Tunisia (the body overseeing the Tunisian judiciary) said it “has decided to suspend judge Bashir al-Akrami from work pending a decision on what is attributed to him about covering up terrorist cases involving the Brotherhood’s Ennahdha movement.”

He added: “The file shall be immediately referred to the Public Prosecution Office for taking any action it deems appropriate pursuant to the provisions of Article 63, paragraph 2, of the Supreme Judicial Council Law.”

This came in a statement, a copy of which was received by Al Ain News, following a complaint by the defense of Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Al Brahmi, accusing the aforementioned judge of covering up the crimes of the Brotherhood and hiding files that condemn the leader of Ennahdha for being behind political assassinations.

Anwar Al-Basti, a member of the defense committee for Belaid and Al-Brahmi, said in statements to Al-Ain News that “the judge who cooperated with the Brotherhood tried to cover the facts related to the death of leftist leader Chokri Belaid and national leader Mohamed Al-Brahmi in 2013.”

“This judge is leaking the results of terrorism investigations to Ennahda, and is part of the process of Muslim Brotherhood empowerment in the Tunisian judiciary,” he said.

Bashir al-Akrami is a close Ennahdha judge who, with the blessing of Ennahdha in 2014, headed Tunisia’s anti-terrorism judicial branch.

He has also faced a sit-in by a number of Tunisian lawyers to cover up several serious cases that implicate Ennahdha.

In an earlier interview with Al-Ain News, Basma Belaid, the widow of Chokri Belaid, accused the judge of manipulating her husband’s file and destroying several files that proved the involvement of the Tunisian Brotherhood with the Egyptian Brotherhood in preparing an armed cell to intimidate political opponents.
