Houthi militias violate UN truce – Details
The Houthi terrorist militia continues to exploit the U.N. truce, which has been extended until next August, to achieve military victories, especially in Taiz province, where the siege was the most prominent issue at the dialog table.
Fierce battles raged today between the national army backed by popular resistance and Iranian-backed Houthi militias in Taiz province.
Military and field sources said: The eastern front of the city of Taiz has been witnessing fierce and continuous battles since yesterday afternoon, until now, between the army forces and the coup militias.
The fighting renewed following a large-scale offensive by Houthi militias against government forces on the same front, it added.
According to the sources, the Houthi militias are attempting to seize military positions around al-Hamad hospital, east of Taiz city, and continue their offensive under heavy fire and heavy shelling.
Houthi militia attacks on army positions come as UN envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg holds talks with the Houthi group in Sanaa, aimed at consolidating a truce and reopening roads in Taiz province, AFP reported.
The Human Rights Information and Rehabilitation Center documented more than 31,000 violations against civilians in Taiz province during the seven-year siege imposed by the Houthi terrorist militia.
The center explained in a report it issued yesterday entitled: “Taiz.. death siege”: “It documented 31,178 cases of violations from March 21, 2015, to April 30, 2022, ranging from killings and injuries to abductions, displacement and destruction of public and private property, most of which were directly perpetrated by Houthi militias”.
The report said 3,988 civilians were killed, including 855 children and 458 women, and 17,688 were wounded, including 2,063 children and 2,640 women, the official news agency Saba reported.
