How do dire living conditions in Lebanon affect the people?

The Lebanese people are living in the worst economic and political conditions in the world today, as years pass and the situation never changes, and political differences even increase; This affects the Lebanese citizen who is no longer interested in politics but rather interested in what he wants to achieve economically.

Since the Beirut Port incident, the Lebanese people are looking for immigration rather than living in their country. Political disputes have become only a card for politicians in a presidential vacuum that has lasted for more than a year, and citizens are not really in charge of the country.

Consecutive shocks and increased suicide rates

Suicide rates in Lebanon are increasing day by day and the situation in Beirut is getting worse, with figures announced every now and then, along with experts and doctors warning of the impact of political crises, wars and successive trauma on the general psychological state of the population in Lebanon, according to informed sources.

Informed sources added that Lebanon continues to suffer from a huge political vacuum, which resulted in a deterioration of the Lebanese economy; “This has led to increased suffering, widespread chaos, corruption, and living conditions crises, as well as external interference in Lebanon’s political scene, including by Hezbollah, Iran’s arm in the country.”

Consecutive accidents and crimes

The latest incident occurred in the town of Jezzine, south of Beirut, where a member of the Azouri family, a member of the security forces, shot his wife and mother-in-law, killing him instantly and killing himself at his residence in the city of Jezzine.

The sources also indicated that the harsh living conditions experienced by the family, especially the father who works in the public sector, may be the reason behind this crime. In a short period of 15 days, six suicides of various ages were recorded in various regions.

About 10% of suicides are due to various factors and pressures, and 75% of suicides occur in low- to middle-income countries. Lebanon has today moved from a middle-income country to a poor country, and it is worth mentioning that according to police data in Lebanon, there were 138 suicides in 2022 alone.
