In support of the Syrian provinces… “The Gallant Knight 2” from the UAE launches 4 new humanitarian initiatives


In continuation of the continuous efforts of the UAE towards the brothers in Syria, due to the earthquake that hit it last February, Operation The Gallant Knight 2, launched by the Joint Operations Command in the Ministry of Defense, under the directives of the President of the State, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced four new humanitarian initiatives.

The head of the UAE Red Crescent delegation in Syria, Mohammed Khamis Al Kaabi, confirmed the continuation of the humanitarian aid from the UAE to the Syrian Arab Republic to support it through four new initiatives. The “My School is My Identity” initiative aims to restore and maintain 40 schools in Latakia province, and the “Knights of Education” initiative aims to provide laptops and desktops to support digital transformation and provide training supplies for the engineering, medicine and pharmacy faculties of Syrian Tishreen University.

During the briefing held on Thursday in Syria, al Kaabi added that the “Eid clothing” is being prepared and distributed to nearly 44,000 Syrians in the provinces of Homs, Aleppo, Hama and Latakia, in addition to distributing 2,000 Sacrificial Animals for a total of 100,000 Syrian beneficiaries in the four Syrian provinces.

Chairman of the Latakia Governorate Council Engineer Tayseer Habib expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian initiatives taken by the UAE Red Crescent team in more than 100 days of giving humanitarian aid, thanking the leadership and people of the UAE and the team of Operation The Gallant Knight 2.

The President of the Latakia Governorate Council praised the continuation of efforts in the coming period through several new initiatives, which were announced by the UAE Red Crescent during its briefing, such as distributing Eid clothes and sacrificial animals and maintaining many faculties at Tishreen University. He added that the province had the honor of presenting its shield to the representative of the UAE Red Crescent delegation, out of the gratitude of the people of the province for all the efforts they are undertaking to provide relief to the Syrian people during this period.
Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the UAE for the relief assistance it provided to those affected, reflecting the deep fraternal relations between the peoples and the leadership of the two countries.

During a visit to the 1,000 temporary housing units being built with the support of the UAE Red Crescent Society for those affected by the earthquake in al-Gharraf district of Latakia city, the Syrian prime minister said that the Syrian people will not forget the humanitarian positions and initiatives led by the UAE.

These humanitarian initiatives are part of the Emirates’ continuous humanitarian and relief efforts, in cooperation with the Syrian parties and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, and the United Arab Emirates continues its efforts to support our brothers in the Syrian Arab Republic during the recovery and rehabilitation phase by providing food, medical supplies and medicines on a continuous basis and identifying the needs of various sectors, within the focus of efforts aimed at providing psychosocial support to alleviate their suffering.
