Intensive Egyptian efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis – Details

Between calls for calm and efforts to mediate between the two sides in the conflict, many countries and international and regional bodies have sought to stop the crisis that has been raging in Sudan for two days. International efforts to stop the crisis, which started from Egypt, and which, accompanied by South Sudan, offered mediation between the Sudanese parties, have also continued during a call that brought together Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and South Sudan’s Salva Kiir.

Egyptian efforts did not stop there. Cairo called on all Sudanese parties to use the language of dialog to stop bloodshed of the Sudanese people and to preserve the stability and security of Sudan and to defuse the crisis. The Egyptian-Saudi initiative to convene an emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States also confirmed its readiness to exert all efforts to help Sudan to end the crisis.

Intensive efforts

Dr. Tariq Fahmy, a professor of political science, says Egypt is intensifying its efforts and moves in several directions in order to reach an immediate ceasefire in Sudan, and to reach a solution that spares the brotherly country the scourge of long-term conflict, which would result in stunting growth and possibly prolonged popular suffering.

He added that Egypt has appealed for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan, appealing to all parties to calm down, and to give the voice of wisdom and peaceful dialog and uphold the supreme interest of the Sudanese people, in order to preserve the security and safety of civilians, the capabilities of the Sudanese people and the unity and sovereignty of the Sudanese lands, stressing the importance of a quick return to the peaceful path to resolve the Sudanese crisis and establish a new phase that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people and contributes to strengthening security and political and economic stability in this important country.

An important role

For his part, the Sudanese journalist Mohamed Al-Tayeb said that Egypt plays an important and pivotal role for the sake of calm in Sudan through consultations with many neighboring countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other international organizations for quick and urgent solutions to the crisis in Sudan, and sitting at the dialog table for the higher interest of the Sudanese people.

The Sudanese analyst added that the parties to the conflict must, through negotiations, spare the blood of the Sudanese people and get the country back on the peaceful political track, pointing out that the Egyptian messages to the Sudanese parties emphasize the importance of giving priority to wisdom and listening to the voice of reason in a way that leads to an immediate ceasefire and contributes to saving the blood of the Sudanese people and preserving their capabilities.
