International Women’s Day.. UAE women’s accomplishments inspire Eve’s daughters

The world is celebrating International Women’s Day at a time when the UAE continues to make historic achievements. It has become a source of inspiration for their peers from the daughters of Eve around the world.

This year’s International Women’s Day celebration is held under the slogan : “Women in the leadership ranks to achieve a future of equality in the world of COVID-19” is of special importance to the Emirates for more than one reason. It comes a month after the Emirates achieved a historic achievement by the arrival of the “Probe of Hope” to Mars, as the first Arab country and the fifth in the world to achieve this achievement, which the Emirates played a key role in.

It also comes at a time when Emirati women are playing a prominent role in confronting the new Coronavirus pandemic, “COVID-19,” and achieving one achievement after another despite the challenges that resulted from the pandemic. The most recent of these achievements was the victory of the Dubai Police General Command in the Challenge Award of the European Organization for Quality Management, EFQM, in the category of “Diversity, Integration and Gender Equality 2021”.

The International Women’s Day comes at a time when international praise and testimony of the UAE’s efforts to empower women are in first place in the Middle East and North Africa in the World Bank’s “Women, Business Activities and Law 2021” report. The UAE ranks 18th in the world and first in the Arab world in the UNDP gender equality index for 2020.

The occasion also comes at a time when the UAE is celebrating its golden jubilee as an important occasion to monitor the achievements of the state in the empowerment of women over the past 50 years and to anticipate its role in the second half of the state.

The UAE has made unprecedented progress, as witnessed by UN and international organizations, in achieving gender equality and enhancing the status of Emirati women, enabling them to fully contribute to the country’s march with the support of the wise leadership of UAE President Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheik Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Crown Crown Crown Prince, and other members of the founding Prince of the UAE Sheik Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who put the first building blocks for the empowerment of women in the United Arab Emirates, is on the agenda.

Access to mars

One of the most prominent historical achievements made by the UAE, during which women registered an important presence, was its project to explore Mars, whose scientific team was led by Sarah Bint Youssef Al-Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Space Agency.

On February 9th, Hope reached the orbit of the Red Planet after six years of hard and continuous work. The United Arab Emirates became the fifth country in the world to reach Mars and the third country to reach it from their first attempt, and the first Arab country to launch an interplanetary space mission.

The participation of Emirati women in the Hope Probe project reached 34% of the work team. They were strongly present in making the new history of the state. They also made up 80% of the scientific team of the probe, which will provide mankind with the first comprehensive study of the climate of the Red Planet and its various atmosphere layers.

Nuclear power plants

Another historical achievement the UAE has made in the field of peaceful nuclear program was the contribution of Emirati women to the program.

The UAE succeeded in operating the first peaceful nuclear power plant in Baraka, completing the process of connecting the reactor to the state’s main electricity grid, and delivering the first megawatt of environmentally-friendly electricity to homes and businesses.

Emirati women represented a large proportion of the minds and competencies that armed themselves with knowledge to take on this challenge, as they accounted for about 20% of the total employees of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and their subsidiaries, Nawat Energy Company and Barakah First Company, which are among the highest ratios in the nuclear energy sector in the world.

Around 10% of women work at Baraka stations, thanks to the foundation’s commitment to implementing the Driving Guide’s Guidance on the Priority of Developing Emirati Competencies and Empowering Women.

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) announced December 7th that their Nawat Energy Company, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of peaceful nuclear power stations, has achieved a new achievement, with the arrival of the first plant reactor in Baraka to 100% of its production capacity.

This achievement means that the first plant in Baraka produces 1,400 megawatts, making it the largest single source of electricity in the UAE.

The Barakeh Peaceful Nuclear Power Plants have four reactors that are part of the third generation of advanced nuclear power reactors.

As the UAE moves forward to achieve more achievements in the next 50 years, the four new stations will provide 25% of the UAE’s reliable and environmentally friendly electricity needs to support progress and sustainable development for the coming decades and beyond.

This achievement has been safely achieved, despite the challenges posed by the spread of the new COVID-19 virus.

The Coronavirus.. Second World

Since the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, the role of Emirati women has been an integral part of a joint national action system to contain the repercussions of the epidemic.

With women’s prominent contribution, the UAE has become the second country in the world to compete for the vaccine after the government launched a campaign to vaccinate all members of society, both citizens and residents, against the virus for free.

Women have demonstrated their outstanding role in the first line of defense against HIV, played a pivotal role in the success of the remote work system, and have made every effort to protect and care for all members of their families during this crisis.

The UAE women’s remarkable presence in the field of volunteer work has emerged since the onset of the virus. They have supported and supported all affected groups and insisted on being part of this national effort, which enjoys the solidarity of all sincere efforts, through support.

Female Ministers and Parliamentarians.. A Great Confidence, A Global Past

In a move that reflects the UAE leadership’s confidence in women and its commitment to play an active and essential role in the process of development and future-making.

The UAE female ministers retain all nine seats in the government, which was formed last July. The new cabinet will add new tasks to some of them and will amend some of the powers under the new restructuring, a step that reflects the confidence of the UAE leadership in women and its commitment to play an active and fundamental role in the development process and the future industry.

In this way, Emirati women continue to maintain their 27% participation in the government, continuing to occupy the top position in the participation of Arab women in decision-making bodies and leadership positions.

The UAE preceded the move with a previous regional and international achievement that raised the percentage of Emirati women in the Federal National Council by half.

In October 2019, the UAE witnessed the organization of the fourth round of elections for the Federal National Council, during which Emirati women achieved a global lead on the regional and international levels by winning half the seats of the council. This was thanks to the decision of Sheik Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE to raise the representation of women in the Federal National Council to 50%.

This enhances the role of women in the legislative branch and brings about a new phase in the political empowerment program aimed at strengthening the political participation of the people of the United Arab Emirates in the decision-making process.

In the language of numbers, Emirati women and girls have succeeded in storming all fields of work. Women occupy 66% of public sector jobs, one of the highest in the world, and this percentage increases to 75% in the education and health sectors.

Women have made great strides in economic empowerment, with more than 23,000 businesswomen in the UAE running projects worth more than 50 billion dirhams and occupying 15% of the boards of directors of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the country.

In addition, 57.3% of the total national staff working in this sector are registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Resettlement.

UAE businesswomen every year hold distinguished positions among the top 100 women in the Arab world’s economy, according to Forbes.

This is a new global achievement that is the result of supporting good leadership in the gender balance and the unlimited care given to and encouraged by women.

The UAE achieved the national target of reaching the list of the top 25 countries in the world by 2021.

The UAE also ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa in the World Bank’s “Women, Business and Law Activities 2021” report.

Golden Jubilee

These achievements coincide with the UAE’s Golden Jubilee on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, during which Emirati women were able to prove to everyone and from various sites they consider responsible and that they are capable of supporting their country in all circumstances.

This is in addition to the achievements through which Emirati women affirm that their preparation for the next 50 years is a must for the daughter of the Emirates to be a strategic and pivotal partner in the process of exploring the future and contributing to it alongside her male brother.

Through their vision and goals, the Percentage of Emirates 2071 seeks to invest primarily in the youth of the United Arab Emirates, to promote the participation of women in all sectors, and to work to make the Emirates the best and most advanced country in the world.
