Iran – Hijab Uprising Demands Overthrow of Regime

Protests in Iran continue until they have reached the point of calling for the overthrow of the regime, amid attempts by the mullahs to suppress protests, as is the custom of the regime with any demonstrations.

International human rights groups accuse the mullahs’ regime of using excessive force and live ammunition to suppress the protests.

Observers said that there is evidence that the demonstrators were subjected to torture and serious ill-treatment and the use of live ammunition against the demonstrators, which is considered an international crime, which led to a global consensus to defend the demands of the Iranian protests.

The Iranian protests passed the 12-day barrier in a row since the death of a security guard in Iranian prisons and in defiance of a crackdown that rights groups say has resulted in the death of more than 75 people, amid assurances that the final toll is much higher.

Iranian media reported that Iranian authorities arrested the daughter of former President Ali Akbar Hachemi Rafsandjani on charges of inciting protests.

Faezeh Hachemi was arrested in eastern Tehran by security forces on the pretext of inciting rioters to protest in the streets, although she is a former MP and women’s rights activist, who had previously contested law in Iran. She was charged with carrying out propaganda activities against the country and blasphemy in comments on social media, the judiciary said at the time.

Foreign-based Iranian opposition media said mass protests are still taking place in different Iranian cities, but activists said internet restrictions make it difficult to speak up about repression of protesters in Iran.

Informed sources confirmed that the Iranian authorities arrested more than 1200 people during the last hours; the detainees included activists, lawyers, journalists, and dozens of demonstrators.

The crackdown drew condemnation from around the world. In the past few hours, the US think tank Freedom House joined the charge and called on “other governments to stand by these brave protesters and hold Iranian officials accountable for their abuses against protesters.”

Iranian police beat protesters with batons in street battles as protesters tore up large posters of Khamenei and his predecessor Khomeini.

The sources said that the internet blackout was as bad as it was during the deadly November 2019 protests that erupted due to the rising fuel prices, while the Iranian Chief Justice, Gholamhussein Mohseni Ejei, stressed “the need to take decisive measures without leniency” against the inciters of the protest, in a position aimed at legitimizing violations against the protesters.

The United States last week imposed sanctions on Iran’s morality police, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his country would follow suit with a package of sanctions “against scores of individuals and entities.”

It is worth mentioning that the spark of the protests erupted after the death of Amiens’ Teacher in Iranian prisons after she was tortured at the hands of the so-called morality police. Meanwhile, pictures emerged of women burning their veils and cutting their hair, and cheering the death of the dictator and death of Khamenei, until the matter reached the level where they demanded the overthrow of the regime, which uses religion as a cover for violations that affect all the Iranian people.
