Ismael Haniyeh talks on Al Jazeera demonstrated Hamas’s political failure and justifications for Iran’s suspect support
Although Hamas is considered a terrorist group by several states and decisive action is taken against it, Qatar continues to support it by all means, sparking controversy by hosting the Al Jazeera media arm of Hamas political bureau chief Ismael Haniyeh.

Al Jazeera hosts Haniyeh
Ismael Haniyeh, head of the Hamas political bureau, was a guest on the “Interview” program by Ali al-Dafiri, on the Qatari Al–Jazeera channel, to make highly controversial statements.
Haniyeh touched on several troubling points and lies propagated by the movement, claiming that Hamas had fought two uprisings and four wars with the State of Israel: 2008, 2012, 2014, and 2021.
Hamas failure
It is clear from Haniyeh’s speech that Hamas is a failed movement that does not have a realistic political program that meets the demands of the Palestinian people to obtain their basic rights, away from conflicts, in light of Hamas’s continuous assertion that it will never recognize Israel and its illogical solutions aimed at destroying a UN member state.
This was demonstrated by Haniyeh’s revelation that Nidal Farhat, a former leader in the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, was the first to manufacture local Hamas rockets, adding that the latest war is “a rehearsal for the complete liberation of Palestine”, indicating the movement’s intention to ignite the next war.
Ismael Haniyeh also said “funding the nation” is the source of Hamas’s income, referring to Gulf donations that come through Qatar.
He said that there was an Egyptian leniency for arms access to Hamas, despite the huge Egyptian efforts to resolve the Palestinian conflicts and prevent the transfer of weapons.
Haniyeh claimed that communication with Saudi Arabia was interrupted by the Saudis and not by Hamas, its crimes and involvement in shameful acts in the region, ignoring Iran’s sending dismantled and sometimes fully assembled missiles to the Gaza Strip.
Justification of Iranian support
Haniyeh justified Hamas’s cooperation with Iran by saying that it is because of its openness to all and that Tehran’s support for the movement in repelling attacks by Palestinians and their supporters confirms Hamas’s bet on the wrong side.
He claimed that Iran supports the resistance in Palestine and supports resistance movements that weaken and occupy the Zionist enemy.
He expressed his commitment to the relationship with Iran, describing it as not new and it has been going on for 30 years, and we have had a representative in Iran since 1990.
He also relied on an incomprehensible and evasive statement: “We accept the 1967 borders on two conditions, which includes not recognizing Israel and not giving up all the land of Palestine”.
Hamas’s lack of intention to have any real signs of reconciliation with Fatah and to solve local problems to support stability has emerged and the Palestinian side will remain divided, he said. “When Hamas goes through the institutional decision, everyone adheres to it and does not deviate from it”.
