Jerusalem Support Conference.. What have the UAE, Egypt and Jordan done to the Palestinian cause?
The Arab League is experiencing a state of momentum in light of the “Jérusalem Résilience et Développement” conference held in support of the people of Palestine by the leaders and leaders of the Arab world, in participation of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, which strongly illustrates the importance of the Holy Land for the Arab world.
UAE support and funding
In particular, the UAE’s recent position in support of the Palestinian cause in the corridors of the League of Arab States was not new, but rather an extension of its vision in support of the Palestinian right. Recently, on November 9, the UAE, during a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, renewed its emphasis on its support for Palestine and that the stability of the region cannot be achieved without a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. The UAE continues to extend a helping and supporting hand to the Palestinian people through development, relief and development projects, especially in the occupied city of Gaza Strip, and in areas threatened by settlements in the West Bank. I see the UAE leadership through its long history in supporting Palestine and the strategic relations linking the two brothers, the support of Palestine and the return of the Palestine and the Agency of refugees to the UAE, and the Agency of the UAE, “2020 – more than $187 million, as well as more than $218 million in funding, including $166 million for education, and $19 million for social goods and programs.”
UAE condemns Israel’s violations
Emirati Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al-Murr said that the Jerusalem conference comes in light of the critical conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, which have reached a very dangerous stage due to unilateral measures and illegal practices against the Palestinian people and against the City of Jerusalem and its holy sites. He stressed the need to put an end to the ongoing tensions in and around the holy sites and to put an end to the escalation of inflammatory rhetoric about them.
Speaking at the Arab League’s Al Quds Conference on Sunday, the minister reiterated the UAE’s rejection and condemnation of any provocative measures or violations to change the historical and legal situation in the city of Jerusalem and the repeated incursions into the courtyard of Al Aqsa Mosque.
He stressed the need to respect the role of the Kingdom of Jordan in caring for the holy sites and endowments in the city of Jerusalem, and to support the Jordanian custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem in light of worrisome indicators.
He called for an end to the demolition of Palestinian property and the forced displacement of the Palestinian population from their homes, stressing the need to prevent settlement activities that had reached unprecedented levels; Those settlements violate international law and international legitimacy resolutions and the Security Council.
Al-Murr stressed the need to restore peace and create political horizons to improve the situation on the ground and return to the path of the Middle East peace process.
Egypt supports and supports
For his part, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said that the presence of Arabs in the Arab League reflects their support for the steadfastness of Jerusalem, the nerve of the Palestinian cause, the beating heart of the Palestinian state, the city of peace and the cradle of religions, which calls for images of coexistence and tolerance, the images of prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque mixed with the scenes of pilgrimage in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. President Al-Sisi explained that international law, and the pivotal UN resolutions, as never before concerned a city, concerned the legal status of the city of Jerusalem, starting with the Security Council’s affirmation that “no land may be seized by force, and that all legislative and administrative measures taken by Israel as an occupying power, which could change the features or status of the holy city, have no legal validity and constitute a flagrant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention,” and ending with the Security Council’s affirmation that it does not recognize any changes on the lines of June 4, 1967, including those related to Jerusalem, except those agreed by negotiation. President Al-Sisi stressed Egypt’s firm position in rejecting and condemning any Israeli actions to change the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, as well as affirming the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque in its entirety as a place of worship for Muslims.
Cease Israeli violations
The Jordanian King Abdullah II said that the axis of the Jerusalem conference is related to all Arabs, as the city is the Muslim Mecca, and therefore the world will not enjoy stability and the issue is still stalled. He added that the chances of peace based on the two-state solution are linked to intensifying efforts to stop the violations committed by the Israeli occupation, while maintaining the historical status of the holy city remains the top priority.
Arabs support Palestine
Ayman Al-Raqqab, a Palestinian political researcher, says that an important conference on Jerusalem was held at the headquarters of the Arab League, and although the conference was held on the recommendation of the recent Arab summit in Algiers, the timing of the conference increased the importance of this conference, as the city of Jerusalem is witnessing a fierce attack by the occupation army and its extremist right-wing government.
He added in a special statement to Al-Arab Mubasher: We listened to words that included full support for the Palestinian people and rejection of all occupation measures to Judaize the city of Jerusalem and attempt to divide the time and space of the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque. All participating countries declared their full support for the Palestinian people, while the Authority submitted several projects to support Al-Quds and we are waiting for these projects to be transferred to resolutions implemented by the Arab League. Al-Raqqab said: The Egyptian, Emirati, and Jordanian positions were, as usual, supportive of the Palestinian people.
