Jordanian Strategic Analyst Reveals Hamas and Iran’s Plot to Undermine the Hashemite Kingdom

A Jordanian strategic analyst has revealed a plot by Hamas and Iran to undermine the Hashemite Kingdom

The Jordanian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, through its spokesman Mouaz Al-Khawalda, acknowledged having contacts with the Palestinian Hamas movement, as part of what it described as a confrontation against “Zionist ambitions” targeting Jordan. Meanwhile, Khaled Meshaal, the Hamas leader abroad, issued explicit calls to the Jordanian public for intensified action, urging millions to sustainably take to the streets, in a speech at an internal event of the Islamic Movement. These statements were deemed too inflammatory by Al-Khawalda.

Intense Battle

Media reports have revealed that Jordan finds itself at the heart of the battle due to the tremendous pressure exerted by the Islamic movement on the regime since the first day of the “Storm Al-Aqsa” operation. Observers have faced a restless street, where the Muslim Brotherhood has stirred up turmoil through massive protests across the country, as well as repeated attempts to target the Israeli and American embassies.

Tehran exerted another form of pressure on Amman by activating its armed proxies in Iraq to block the passage of oil tankers across the border, before Iranian movements took the form of violations of Jordanian sovereignty, provoking popular anger by launching rockets and drones through Jordanian skies towards Israel, instead of sending them through Syria and Lebanon. Amman saw in this decision to violate Jordanian airspace an attempt to disrupt the country’s stability and to position it as a pawn in this war, thereby embarrassing a state with a peace treaty with Israel and hosting American military bases.

Iranian Muslim Brotherhood Plan

Major Mohammed Thalji, a Jordanian military analyst, confirmed the work of the Iranian propaganda machine and the Muslim Brotherhood to escalate protests in Amman, especially in the Palestinian refugee camps in the country. Media statements from a Hamas official in Jordan also reflected contradictions in the Palestinian group’s discourse on Jordan.

The Jordanian military analyst added that official and political circles in Jordan expressed concern over calls from some Hamas leaders to mobilize the Jordanian street, noting that the Muslim Brotherhood‘s propaganda machine directed from Tehran was jeopardizing the country’s stability.

Desperate Attempts

Government Communication Minister and Government Spokesman Mohannad Mubaidin criticized statements by Hamas leaders, asserting that any attempt to incite against the Jordanian state was desperate. These events followed statements from Hamas leader abroad Khaled Meshaal, who called on millions of Jordanians to take to the streets sustainably until the war ceased and relations with Israel were severed.
