Khaled Meshaal Calls for Return to “Suicide Operations”: What’s the Connection with Sinwar?

The leader of the Hamas movement abroad, Khaled Meshaal, has called for a return to “suicide operations” to resist Israeli military operations in Gaza and the West Bank.

In a video speech during the annual conference for the release of the “Eye on Al-Aqsa” report, relayed by international news agencies, Meshaal stated: “Resistance operations in the West Bank are escalating despite difficult conditions… We want to return to (suicide) operations; this situation can only be resolved through open conflict. They are fighting us with open conflict, and we are facing them with open conflict.”

He added: “The enemy has opened the conflict on all fronts, targeting all of us, whether we are fighting or not. The enemy says, ‘I am crazy,’ and it is up to the nation to take its responsibilities.”

He continued: “I reiterate my call for everyone to participate on multiple fronts in the active resistance against the Zionist entity.”

Meshaal also criticized American diplomatic efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, accusing the United States of providing Israel with “weapons of destruction.”

He stated: “America abandoned the July 2nd agreement, then blames Hamas, knowing that the one who sabotaged the agreement is Benjamin Netanyahu with his personal agenda, in addition to the Zionist agenda supported by America and some Western countries, unfortunately.”

He added that all Israeli and American statements, especially in recent days and weeks, are lies and fabrications, and that America is not serious. It is not a mediator; it is a partner in the aggression.

This situation has sparked widespread reactions, with activists linking it to recent developments in Hamas leadership and the selection of Yahya Sinwar to succeed Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the movement, who was killed in Tehran, according to CNN.

Meshaal has held a senior position in Hamas since its emergence in 1987. He served as the head of Hamas‘s political bureau in 1996 and again in 2013.
