“Mohajer 6” – Offensive capabilities of the drone used by the Sudanese Army
Reports citing Western officials indicate that Iran has “supplied the Sudanese army with combat drones of the Mohajer-6 type,” qualified for surveillance missions and explosives transport.
The Bloomberg agency reported the day before yesterday that “satellites captured images of an Iranian Mohajer-6 drone on January 9th at the Wadi Seidna airbase (north of Khartoum) under army control.”
Three Western officials, who requested anonymity, said that “Sudan received shipments of Mohajer-6 drones, single-engine drones manufactured in Iran, equipped with precision-guided munitions.”
The Mohajer 6 drone
In 2019, Mohajer-6 combat drones joined the drone unit of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force, with an operational range of 2000 km and the ability to carry smart bombs.
A report from the Fars news agency indicates that the Mohajer-6 drone is a tactical combat drone that has reached the intensive production phase by the “Qods” industries affiliated with the Aerospace Industries Organization of the Armed Forces.
This drone was designed for various military and civilian missions, capable of performing different border patrol, coastal patrol, environmental monitoring, and other missions.
The characteristics of this drone include an operational range of 2000 km, the ability to carry highly precise “Qaem” bombs used by the Ground Force of the Revolutionary Guards against armed group positions in the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
The dimensions of the drone’s wing are 10 meters of surface area, a length of 5.67 meters, a maximum takeoff weight of 600 kg, a flight endurance of 12 hours, a maximum flight altitude of 18,000 feet, a maximum speed of 200 km/h, and an operational range of 2000 km.
The “Qaem” bomb features an operational range of 6 km, a warhead weight of 1.7 kg, a fragmented warhead type, a length of 1.16 meters, a diameter of 15.3 cm, a weight of 19.5 kg, and a movement speed of 310 meters per second.
