Mohammed ben Zayed checks services provided to Afghan families
Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane, crown prince of Abou Dabi and deputy supreme commander of the armed forces, inspected Friday the humanitarian city of the UAE, which temporarily hosts Afghan families evacuated from Afghanistan en route to third countries.
During a tour of the city’s facilities, Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed was briefed on the integrated services provided to Afghan families to ensure their comfort and a decent life, and listened to all the needs and requirements of the city.
The UAE Humanitarian City is currently hosting a gathering of Afghan refugees to prepare to travel under US supervision to the United States and other countries.
“Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed checks work on the departure site for groups from Afghanistan heading to the United States and other countries, and heard from U.S. officials about the processes to organize the departure and the smooth process.”
The Crown Prince of Abou Dabi directed that all forms of support and assistance be provided to the guests of the State, in order to provide them with the means of comfort and tranquility during their stay in the city and to ensure the preservation of their human dignity. He also ordered the provision of material assistance to all individuals to help them on their next trip.
The UAE will continue to be a symbol of aid and relief during times of hardship and a source of inspiration for humanitarian work, Sheikh Mohammed said, adding that the UAE will spare no effort in fulfilling its humanitarian mission, which is based on the values of giving and doing good, and consolidating human brotherhood and solidarity with peoples during various circumstances and challenges.
On Friday, the UAE sent a plane carrying urgent medical and food aid to the Afghan people. This is the first humanitarian aid plane to arrive in Afghanistan since the US withdrawal.
The aircraft were sent as part of the contribution to the basic and essential needs of thousands of Afghan families, especially the most vulnerable groups such as women, children and the elderly.
This also comes within the framework of the humanitarian role played by the United Arab Emirates in providing full support to the Afghan people in such circumstances.
Meanwhile, the US State Department announced on Friday that it appreciates the UAE’s support for Afghanistan and its sending of a humanitarian aid plane to the capital Kabul.
