Muslim Brotherhood rumors in Egypt: public awareness thwarts the blank shots
The Muslim Brotherhood continues its attempts to target the Egyptian state through rumors and falsehoods aimed at undermining its stability.
Since its popular rejection in 2013, the organization has persisted in such efforts, yet the awareness of the Egyptian public remains a solid barrier that nullifies these attempts.
The latest of these attempts involved rumors shared on a page affiliated with the terrorist organization, alleging violations and deteriorating health conditions of inmates in a rehabilitation center located in the Al-Buhaira governorate in northern Egypt. A security source denied these claims on Tuesday, completely and unequivocally.
The source affirmed that all rehabilitation centers across the country are equipped with the necessary living and medical facilities, and that inmates receive full care according to the highest international human rights standards. He also explained that these centers are under full judicial supervision and subject to daily health inspections.
He added that these rumors are part of the organization’s usual approach of fabricating lies and spreading false information in an attempt to create confusion after losing its credibility. He confirmed that legal measures will be taken against those who propagate these allegations.
In recent months, the organization has intensified its rumors, sometimes targeting conditions in rehabilitation centers and at other times the internal situation of the country.
A security source said that rehabilitation centers are fully equipped with the necessary living and medical facilities to ensure the reintegration of inmates in accordance with the highest international human rights standards.
He added that the Muslim Brotherhood continues to spread rumors, distort facts and republish old videos while claiming they are recent, which, according to him, reflects its state of bankruptcy and its desperate attempts to create confusion.
He noted that “the terrorist organization is attempting to undermine the stability enjoyed by the country, something fully understood by public opinion”, stressing that legal procedures are being taken against those who spread such claims.
He explained that the Ministry of Interior has established several rehabilitation centers across all provinces, closed more than fifteen prisons and transferred all inmates to the new facilities.
He pointed out that these centers have received numerous visits from representatives of foreign embassies, media outlets and human rights officials, both Egyptian and foreign, all of whom praised the unprecedented development in these institutions.
The new centers also include sports halls, medical units, vocational training facilities to teach inmates various skills, places of worship and a judicial complex.
Observers believe that the Brotherhood’s dissemination of rumors is an attempt to escape forward and distract from its internal crises, divisions and conflicts. These rumors, they say, reveal the intellectual and organizational bankruptcy of the group.
After failing to destabilize Egypt’s security, the Brotherhood is now trying to undermine the morale of the security apparatus by spreading various rumors in the hope of regaining public support, but without success.
