New statement.. UAE condemns violence in Ukraine
The United Arab Emirates Mission to the United Nations condemned the violence in Ukraine and called for restraint, a ceasefire and a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
In a statement to the UN Security Council on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, the UAE mission urged all parties to implement their obligations under international law by allowing humanitarian aid to reach those in need and not targeting civilians, Reuters reported.
The mission stressed that the United Arab Emirates reaffirms the importance of working to achieve an immediate ceasefire and to seek peaceful solutions to the Ukrainian crisis. It also considers the humanitarian needs of Ukraine as a result of the crisis, based on its constant concern to alleviate the suffering of civilians under the weight of the conflict.
The United Arab Emirates Mission to the United Nations has once again stressed the need to focus on the worsening humanitarian situation of civilians in Ukraine and to work to ensure their protection.
“Continued fighting will lead to more innocent victims and dire humanitarian conditions, exacerbated by the winter season and harsh cold waves, as civilians seek shelter and safe areas in the current crisis”, the mission said.
The mission’s statement urged all parties to implement their obligations under international law, including by allowing humanitarian assistance to reach those in need and not targeting civilians.
