After years of confusion and collapse under the Muslim Brotherhood’s takeover of Tunisia, the country is ending a black phase and a black history for the past ten years. In contrast to the 2014 constitution, which included a hybrid semi-parliamentary system that serves the interests of the Brotherhood and the corrupt without regard to the interests of the Tunisian people, the new constitution provides for 142 articles and grants broad powers to the President. On June 30, the new draft constitution was published in the Official Gazette to be amended on July 9, after Tunisian President Kais Saied admitted that the old version carries a number of formalities that require amendment and correction.
Purge Institutions
Dr. Brahim Jadla, a professor of intermediate history in Tunisia, says: The country witnessed a lot of incidents of chaos and corruption because of the Ennahdha Muslim Brotherhood movement in Tunisia. However, Tunisia, under the leadership of Tunisian President Kais Saied, succeeded in combating and defeating Brotherhood terrorism and corruption that were widespread in the government.
He added: “What we are waiting for today is to build a new Tunisia, with a new constitution. The most important thing the Tunisian people are waiting for is to restore the prestige of the state and purify its institutions of the Brotherhood elements that are planted in it, he said, noting that Tunisians hope that the coming period will open up to a long political stability that will allow more development successes and restore the image that Tunisia lost since 2011 on the tourism, cultural and economic levels in general, adding, what can be confirmed is that political Islam has disappeared almost completely, and what remains is the rise of the expectations of the Tunisian society, which requires some time. The upcoming elections in December will be decisive for the future of the country, politically and culturally”.
