Panic and Chaos: How the Global Technological Outage Affected Israel
Reports have revealed how Israel was impacted by the global technological outage, which led to the suspension of flights, banks, and media, and caused massive disruption for giant companies on Friday.
The Israeli Internet Authority stated that the country was among those affected by the global internet disruptions, attributing it to an issue with the cybersecurity platform “CrowdStrike.”
According to the Jerusalem Post, post offices, hospitals, ports, and commercial markets in Israel experienced panic after their systems were disrupted, although some managed to overcome the outages.
The Jerusalem Post reported that hospitals, post offices, ports, and shopping centers had to halt operations or change their mode of operation.
The health sector in Israel was the most affected by the crisis, with more than 15 hospitals and medical centers hit by the technical failure.
However, the Jerusalem Post revealed that many of these centers have returned to operation in one form or another, with some shifting to manual services.
Total Chaos
Nevertheless, “hospitals are in a state of chaos,” according to reports.
A doctor in Israel told the Israeli newspaper Maariv: “We are in a complete state of chaos. Working without computer systems is impossible. We are under extremely heavy loads and I pray only that our patients do not die here due to lack of tests or chaos in registration.”
It was also reported that the outage affected the emergency lines of the Red Star of David, Israel’s main public health service, but it later turned out that the report was false.
A misleading message online urged Israelis to call 100 instead of 101 for medical emergencies, but the Red Star of David confirmed that line 101 was operating normally.
The Maccabi health services organization also reported that technical problems affected its operations, forcing it to switch to manual processes until the issue was resolved.
Post, Markets, and Ashdod Port
In the same vein, the Israeli Ministry of Communications stated on Friday that the global outage is affecting post offices across the country.
According to the ministry, service is “currently impossible,” whether at post offices, the call center, or the Israel Post website.

Israel Post reported shortly afterward that “due to a global software outage affecting many companies in Israel, it is currently impossible to receive service at post offices and on the website.”
Israelis also turned to social media platforms to announce that stores in shopping centers were closed due to this malfunction.
Ashdod Port is investigating how the technical outage is affecting its systems, and reports indicated that ships and trucks are currently not receiving services.
