Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, informed French daily newspaper, Le Figaro that the US administration and Europe require to work together to deal with Turkey’s actions in the Middle East over the past few months.
Pompeo stated that France’s President Emmanuel Macron and I agree that Turkey’s recent actions have been very aggressive, indicating Turkey’s recent backing to Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute with Armenia as well as military moves in Libya and the Mediterranean.
He also said, referring to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan: Europe and the US must work together to convince Erdogan such actions are not in the interest of his people.
Secretary of State related that the rising use of Turkey’s military capability was a concern. However, he did not state whether the country, which hosts US military forces at its Incirlik Air Base, should stay in or quit from the North Atlantic Alliance.
