Qatari Nasser Al-Khulaifi buys his country’s victory over Oman by bribing the Sri Lankan referee

Sri Lankan referee Krishánthi Pereira, who led the match between Qatar and Oman as part of the qualifiers for the 2023 Asian Cup and the 2022 World Cup, has provoked much controversy as a result of deliberate refereeing errors against the Omani team, and the apparent bias of the Qatari team.

Omani demands for his dismissal escalated due to deliberate refereeing mistakes by Pereira, most notably the cancelation of a valid goal for the Omani team, intentionally ignoring a confirmed penalty kick for the Omani team, and the reckoning of an incorrect penalty kick for the Qatari team to rig the match, which ended with Oman losing to Qatar (0-1).

The Sri Lankan referee’s manipulation of the match’s fate in favor of Qatar angered the Omani media and al-Ahmar Omani, who demanded a halt to the referee’s sentence and an investigation into the result of the match. They accused Qatar of buying the referee to win the match. Short.. Asian football rides corruption.

Journalist Badr Al-Ghaithi wrote : The Football Association is responsible and required to take a position and register an objection to the flagrant arbitration errors.

Ebrahim al-Maqbali, president of Oman’s Sahar Club, said, “I will referee the match. The farce of arbitration in the sense of the word, thanks to the heroes of Oman”.

Informed sources said that the Sri Lankan referee received a bribe from Qatari Nasser Al Khulaifi, the president of the French Paris Saint Germain Club, the president of the Qatari BN Group, and close to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Thamim Bin Hamad, confirming that he gave the referee a large sum of money and promised to give him a house in France, as soon as Qatar got the title in the match and the championship.

As is no secret to those who follow the affairs of international sports, the name of Nasser Al-Khulaifi is related to several corruption cases. The bribery of the Sri Lankan referee and the purchase of his country’s match against Oman was not his first incident. He became the most famous businessman involved in corruption cases in the world, as he was tried last year in a bribery case, which was reviewed by the Swiss Federal Court, and his co-accused, Geralom Falk, former Secretary General of FIFA.

The court charged al-Khulaifi with paying a bribe to obtain broadcasting rights for the World Cup, which threatens the president of the Paris Saint Germain Club, the French newspaper Fot 01 reported.

According to the French media Bart website, during the second session of his trial, Falk admitted in court to soliciting funds from Nasser Al Khulaifi. He said : I’ve been living under very great pressure.. I was obliged to find funds to buy the villa Bianca, especially since the Swiss bank didn’t approve any loan, I had to find funding for the villa, so I actually asked for money from El Khulaifi.

The Qatari regime has always relied on bribes to win tournaments in the field of sports, especially football, even though its national team did not qualify to do so, in order to achieve the political and social interests of the regime. History testifies to a long record of sports corruption, which has been annulled by Qatari officials who were involved in dozens of bribery cases, most notably the case of bribery of Bin Hammam, a former member of the executive office of the International Federation of Football (FIFA), and the former president of the Asian and Qatari Federations to host the World Cup in Qatar.

Mohammed Bin Hammam has admitted taking bribes from Germany in a new corruption scandal involving Qatari football, which is accused of paying bribes to host the 2022 World Cup. In statements to the German ZDF channel, he said : ”I received in my account a sum of 6.7 million euros”.

Bin Hammam was sentenced to a life sentence for all football activities in December 2012 on several charges, including bribing FIFA members to run for president.
